  WIDOW MAKER

  Prologue

  Two years ago

  Kristina

I sobbed as I clutched my shirt together, my bare feet slapping against the pavement as I ran down the broken sidewalk. I should have known something was up when James had driven me to this house on pretense that there was a party going on tonight to celebrate our high school graduation.

There had been a party and I was the main attraction.

  “There she is!”

I broke off from the sidewalk, feeling the ground bite into my feet as I hurried down a dark alley, hoping to find somewhere I could hide. My heart broken, my body throbbing from the assault I had just endured, I didn’t know how I would face those guys if I saw them on the street.

Thank God we had already graduated.

I stumbled out of the alley, my feet on fire, and found myself on another dark street, the houses patched together and a far cry from my parents’ house on the other side of town. I should have listened to my best friends about James.

I shouldn’t have given myself to such an asshole.

Making a split decision to turn left, I ran down the road, frantically looking for a light on through a window or someone out on their front porch. I just… I wanted to go home and forget this night ever existed.

Finally, I saw a beacon of hope; a small beam of a light shone out from a little house and ran to the stoop, hoping I wasn’t stepping into another bad situation.

Well, nothing could be worse than what I had just gone through. The hands, the jeers, the assault. It was all horrible.

I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

“There she is! Come on, Kris. We were just getting started! You know you liked it!”

I kept my back to James and his friends while I banged on the door and prayed someone would answer. “Please! Help!”

The door opened and I fell against a strong, warm wall.

  “Hey now, what the hell?”

I looked up to see an ice blue stare meeting my own, a frown on his harsh, angled face. “Who the hell are you?”

“I need help,” I got out, tears clogging my throat. “P-please. They-” I couldn’t say the words. I was ashamed of how stupid I’d been and what they had done to me.

His eyes narrowed and he set me aside, pulling out a wicked looking gun from his waistband. “Stay here.”

I followed him to the doorway, watching as he stepped outside and walked down the front steps just as James and his friends approached from the street.

“You’re in the wrong part of town, boys.”

They drew up short at the sight of my savior and his gun, James putting on his famous grin that had roped me in. “We’re just looking for my girlfriend. We had a misunderstanding and I just want to apologize to her.”

“By the looks of her clothing and the bruises on her, she doesn’t look like she cares to hear your fucking apology,” he responded, tapping the gun against his thigh. “So, I suggest you get the hell out of here before I start using you for target practice.”

I watched with bated breath as James contemplated this guy’s words before throwing up his hands. “You can have the bitch. Come on, let’s go find some fun.”

I released a breath as they retreated, my savior walking back up the stairs, his eyes on mine.

“I can hit them from here if you would like.”

I let out a half laugh, half sob and collapsed on the floor. It was over. I was safe.

  Chapter 1

  Two years later

  Rex

  “Dammit!”

Kris’s husky laugh rang out in the garage as I jumped back from the spray of oil currently wetting the front of my shirt.

“You know, that’s not supposed to happen.” I looked over at her, frowning. “Everything that has happened with this bike is not supposed to happen. This bike is cursed.”

She gave me a sweet smile. “Maybe that’s why the price was so good.”

I shook my head as I stared at the oil leaking onto the concrete floor, trying to hold back from kicking the shit out of the bike and giving up. The bike was a present for the woman beside me, a two-year anniversary present at that. Who would have thought I would last year, let alone two with anyone. More specifically, who would’ve thought that someone could put up with my ass for that long? But Kristina had, and I thanked the big man upstairs every morning that he had brought her to me.

Not every woman could deal with my charming personality on a daily basis. “Well if I could take it back, I would. It’s shit.”

“Oh, come on, Rex,” she cooed, draping her arms over the back of the chair she straddled. “If anyone can fix this bike, it’s you.”

I grinned, stripping the shirt over my head. “Are you inflating my ego?”

  “Maybe.”

  “Keep on then.”

Kris laughed and it touched the very bottom of my soul. That’s what Kris did. When I was least expecting it, she had blown into my life, and while we’ve had our rough patches, life was good. Kris got me, my need to work on bikes, and be part of the Rough Jesters motorcycle club. My work was my life, the way I supported us both; but the club, they were my family.

And now Kris was on her way to becoming my family, too.

“Are you really going to work on that shirtless?” she asked as I knelt down once more, tightening the screw that had caused the oil spill.

I looked up at her, giving her a wink. “Why, does it turn you on?”

She smirked. “Everything about you turns me on, babe.”

I arched a brow. “Even my snoring?”

She shrugged. “You don’t complain about mine, but I didn’t appreciate the fact you recorded me last week.”

Grinning now, I turned my attention back to the bike. “Hey, I only let Corey listen.”

“Only Corey,” she sighed. “Who has the biggest damn mouth of all your friends. I’m surprised I’m not some internet sensation by.”

“He wouldn’t do that,” I answered as I dropped the wrench in the toolbox. “Unless he was getting a cut of some sort.”

Kris made a noise and threw a rag at me, smacking me in the face. “I’m going to the bathroom.”

I watched her leave, one of my favorite activities given the way her jeans fit her ass, and turned back to the bike. Kris already claimed my spare bike as her own, but I wanted her to have one that was built from the ground up—something that she can truly own from start to finish. I had already lined up the paint job on it, something that matched her personality. I knew she’d love having something like this, especially after our last rally in Sturg
is.

But it wasn’t the only surprise I hoped to have for her. What she didn’t know was that I had been on the lookout for the perfect ring as well. I loved her and it hadn’t taken me long to realize I wanted to make her my girl, my wife forever. After years of being alone, I didn’t want to imagine life without her.

My friend Corey had helped out too, trying to find that perfect ring that would capture not only my love for her, but also her spirit. Kris was no ordinary woman and that was one of the many things I loved about her.

Sighing, I wiped my hands on the rag, looking back at the bike. I needed to get this shit done so I could get it to the detailer tomorrow. Our anniversary was three days away and I wanted to go all out, presenting the bike to her so we could ride to a candlelight dinner, where I’d ask her to marry me.

That is, if I could find that damn ring. I wasn’t a romantic guy, choosing to show my love to her in the bed and not by fancy gifts or declarations of love. She knew I loved her, for I had told her often enough when it was just the two of us.

But this time, I wanted to give her a night to remember. After all, she deserved it.

Looking down at my watch, I groaned. I had two hours to complete this bike and get to the clubhouse for our weekly meeting, meaning I would have to drop Kris off first before I could go.

Well that, and shower this damn oil off my body.

  “What? What happened this time?”

I followed the sound of Kris’s voice and found her looking at me. “What?”

“You had a frown on your face,” she stated, walking over to me. “I thought something else had happened with the bike.”

“No, I was just looking at the time,” I said. “Club meeting tonight.”

“Oh yeah,” she said, her face falling. “I forgot.”

“It won’t be long,” I offered up, knowing she hated being alone at the house.

Even after two year since her attack by her asshole boyfriend and his friends, she still had flashbacks. There were nights she would wake up in a cold sweat the first few months, crying in my arms while I wanted nothing more than to kill the bastard for what he had done to her.

He was lucky he fucked off to college before I had my chance. “You know,” I started, changing the subject. “You’re gonna have to pick a road name once this bike is ready.”

“So, I get to choose my name myself?”

I nodded, throwing the rag in the box and picking up a screwdriver. “Something that matches you.”

She pursed her lips. “That’s kinda hard to do. Like it’s like picking a kid’s name out. If you screw it up, they are stuck with it all their lives.”

“What about blondie?” I asked innocently, not looking at her.

  “You serious?” she laughed. “Blondie?”

  “Tits?”

“Oh my god,” Kris shot back. “That’s terrible.”

“I like it,” I grinned as I loosened the screw on the cover to check the wiring. “That or Ass.”

She slapped me on the shoulder. “You’re a shithead, you know that? None of those will be taken seriously. None of them.”

  “Well what’s your suggestion?”

“I don’t know,” she answered with a sigh. “This is a hard decision. There’re so many things I could go with. I mean, I’m damn good in bed.”

I nearly dropped the screwdriver. Hell yeah she was good in bed. “Yeah, and?”

“Maybe Cock Squeezer or something?” Kris said, her voice dropping as her fingers started to play with the fine hairs on the back of my neck. “Or Happy Ending.”

“You don’t want Tits or Ass, but you’ll be Cock Squeezer?” My own cock rose to attention as I thought about her lips. Damn. I had started this game and she was taking it to the next level.

“Like I said, it’s what I’m good at.” she continued, her fingers brushing over my shoulder. “I could be Tongue Thrasher. Now that would get some attention.”

I closed my eyes as she slid her hand down my chest, right into the residual oil path from earlier. Every fiber of my being stood on end and I slowly lowered the screwdriver. This woman, this was one of the many reasons I wanted to marry her.

Any woman that made me feel this way was a keeper. Never in my lifetime had I felt like this about anyone before, and even beyond all that, Kris made me think about booties and baby bottles, something I hadn’t planned on for my future.

Silently, I slid my hand around her ankle, sliding it up her leg. “Or Legs.”

“You are always talking about how my legs are short.”

“Not when they’re wrapped around my head.”

She shivered as my fingers traced up her jean-clad leg. “This was my seduction, not yours.”

I slowly stood, my hand running over her ass, then up her back, leaving a trail of oil in its wake. “You shouldn’t tempt the devil.”

She looked up at me, heat flaring in her eyes. “Maybe that should be it. Devil Tempter.”

I grinned as I cupped her chin. “I like it.”

Her mouth opened but I covered it with my own, thrusting my tongue in her waiting warmth. She moaned and pressed her body against mine, her arms flinging around my neck.

This was how it was constantly between us, even after a year. I had thought the flame would die off, that I wouldn’t want her as much as I had in the beginning, but it had only stoked itself higher. I hoped it never died between us.

Picking her up, I put her on the back of the same motorcycle that would be ours one day, a wicked thought crossing my mind. I broke our kiss, staring down at her flushed face. “I want to fuck you, right here.”

Her eyes widened, a spark of excitement reflecting in her gaze. “Well I’m not going to complain about that.”

My lips curved into a smile as I brushed the hair off her shoulder. “I didn’t think you would.”

Kris reached for my belt loop, pulling me against her. “You think this bike can hold under the pressure?”

“It hasn’t held anything else,” I laughed. “Might as well try it out.”

She laughed as I ran a hand boldly down the front of her shirt, brushing across her breast in the process. I wanted her naked under me, my eyes feasting on her body.

  “Take it off.”

Kris’s fingers found the hem of her shirt and she pulled it over her head, reaching back to unclasp her bra, flinging it on the floor.

My mouth watered at the sight of her perfect breasts, her erect nipples begging for my attention. “Fucking gorgeous.”

Her legs straddled the bike as she leaned forward, cupping one of her breasts with her hand. “What are you going to do about it?”

I growled, my jeans growing uncomfortable as I took it into my mouth, hearing her moan in pleasure. It was a sound I would never get tired of.

Her hands thrust into my hair when I switched sides, lavishing her nipple with my tongue, tasting the saltiness of her skin.

“Rex,” she breathed as I moved lower, nipping at her abdomen with my teeth. “I need you.”

I swirled my tongue around her belly button, the soft skin driving me wild. “You will have me babe.” She had no idea how much I needed her. Kris was the very air I breathed.

Flicking the button of her jeans open, I helped her wiggle them down her body, exposing her bright pink undies that had my blood singing through my veins. With a growl I touched the center, feeling her wetness already seeping through the silky material. “You’re already wet.”

“That’s what you do to me,” she breathed. “Don’t make me wait, Rex.”

“Yes ma’am,” I answered, sliding the fabric aside and inserting my finger. She gasped and threw her head back, her body trembling at my intrusion. Leaning down, I touched my tongue to her slit, tasting her. She squirmed under my touch, but her hand held my head there, urging me on. I spread her open and found the hard nub with my tongue, teasing it until Kris’s breaths started to come in gasps.

&n
bsp; She was close.

Increasing my pressure, I worked her with both my finger and my tongue, the sound of her wetness filling the air. “Come for me,” I whispered against her skin, the smell of her arousal filling my nostrils.

Kris whimpered, her hands tightening in my hair before she stiffened, her voice hoarse as it echoed off the walls of the garage. I slowed my assault as the waves of her orgasm filled her body, groaning as she tightened around my finger over and over again.

Damn, I couldn’t wait until that was my cock.

Finally, I eased out of her and reached for my jeans, pushing them down over my hips. My cock sprang out and I touched it lightly as I stared at Kris sprawled out over the bike.
